El Loco, El Capo, who can tell the difference? We can! Surry Hills is jam packed with amazing food places, including Rueben Hills, which does a mean pan of baked eggs, absolutely delish. As the days went on, we were in even greater need for good food, great desserts and eclectic interiors.

The Sara Philips show stunned the crowd with the floral prints, while we stood only a centimeter away from the Rumi Queen Hot bodies at the Kooey show, while we sat front row oogling. The sights from the bay was breathtaking too, & a much needed relief from running around the shows and showrooms. x

7am to midnight days, the insanity of it all could only be salvaged by living in the Surry Hills area. Our escape came in the form of Bourke Street Bakery, on the corner of Bourke & Devonshire. Coffee that instantly uplifts, and heavenly chocolate raspberry tarts. (Honorable mentions include the lemon curd tart & iced chocolate.) As hilly as the Hills were, we wandered around day and night, and were rewarded with a One Teaspoon store, which I raided & scored two pairs of their signature denim shorts!

Subway rides, outfit details, graffiti for the world to discover. The Toi Et Moi show was part escapism, part sunshine – starting off with a sweet French rendition by a young darling, followed by chic casual looks, ending with striped looks we would kill to own. Fulfilling but tiring, that’s how every day felt like. An exploration, a discovery – we ended the day off by coming across a herd of empty bird cages in an alley off Oxford Street. Curiouser & curiouser. x

Our first batch of pictures from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, Sydney. Highlights? The insane mega Camilla show – those Indian inspired looks were pretty awesome, and the prints + not to mention the EPIC turnout was what made the show such a success. We took in the sights from the balcony of the main location, and were lucky enough to bump into THE Alex Spencer of 4th&bleeker before the Miss Unkon show started.

We’re proud owners of these overly blue, alien-esque photos, & could we just say that Alex is the sweetest person ever?! She was so obliging, asked for our names and was extremely friendly. Top of our list at the moment, and drop dead gorgeous in person. Imagine her donning this epic look the first day, and being such a standout! LOVE, we are head over heels in love x

So we saw the stunner in person at MBFWA and can we just say, she is as gorgeous and beautiful as she is in person. Can’t wait for this issue of Harper’s Australia to be out – both Taylor & Elin Kling (whom we saw in person too!) will be featured. x

What you do and tell us about your background/experiences?
Born and bred in Singapore, I graduated with a graphic design background from Temasek Polytechnic. I have always worked in advertising upon leaving school. I am currently a Creative Group Head in Ogilvy & Mather. For me, I do anything that excites and inspires me. I try not to limit myself to any form of creative outlet. Stolen is one of my biggest passions besides work. It is my creative escape from the big bad world of advertising. Stolen satisfies my desire for vanity, feeds my insecurities and keeps me real. I am also an installation artist, and am currently exploring more conceptually.

Describe yourself in 5 words
Passionate, extreme, loving, real and emotional.

Tell us about your collection, your inspiration(s) behind it and a song to represent it.
My collection is inspired by architecture, paper art and sexy girls with short hair. Architecture – for the structural and bold forms, paper art for the folds and simplicity. I don’t fancy sexiness that is represented in tight body hugging forms. I love sexiness with an edge, something bolder, something cleaner and classier. Like an absolutely sexy girl with simple short cropped hair. The song that will represent my collection is an old song “24” by Red House Painters. It’s very simple, yet very piercingly beautiful.

Who are your style icons and who would you like to represent the brand?
I don’t have any style icons but I do have a few designers that I admire. I have always loved Hussein Chalayan for his conceptual approach and the humour in his work; Phoebe Philo for her sharp sense of minimalism; Rick Owens for his freeplay in texture. I will always miss Helmut Lang when he headed his label, I completely respect his vision and his style. I think Helmut Lang as a brand has inspired me the most as a fashion designer. If I had to insist on a style icon who best represents my brand, it would be Tilda Swinton. Her minimalistic grace and elegance is just so captivating.

Tell us about your passion and how you got to where you are.
Stolen is totally passion driven. But just like most creatives, procrastination was my biggest enemy. I thought about starting my own fashion line for 10 years before I finally took action to make it happen. Taking the first step was the toughest, while everything else after was basically ran on adrenaline. I was never trained in fashion, so everything single step had a steep learning curve – from the choice of fabric to what is possible on a draft, I made a ton of mistakes. I also did a massive amount of legwork just to understand what’s possible, what’s good, what’s important. Thinking back now, I am shocked to realize what I’ve managed to achieve on top of my crazy day job. But when it’s running purely on passion, you stop calculating and start enjoying.

What are your viewpoint(s) about collaborations and entrepreneurs?
Collaboration is great with the current social network. It not only shares and taps into a bigger audience, it helps to inspire and motivate each other (brands). The most exciting benefit of collaboration is being able to help each other break break past your own boundaries to create more dynamic and exciting new possibilities. I see a LOT more young entrepreneurs in Singapore in recent years, it is really exciting. They make everything look so fun and easy. But I am sure there’s lots of hard work behind starting up a new business.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I want Stolen to go international, have another 3 to 4 installation art shows (the next one will take place in September this year) and I’ll continue to strive for happiness…my only goal in life.

The Fadli Rahman x ERIIN Editorial we launched today at our trunkshow, “THESE ARE OUR HEROES”, entitled “Boxer Rebellion”. We loved working on set with him, and we loved the model Dorothy! Amazing work, thank you Queena Do for the gorgeous makeup & hair as well. Hope you guys love it. x

As I type this, the stock is on its way over and we are so excited to have MSALM’s debut at our Trunkshow on Thursday! Be sure to speak to Faz on the event day as well, as she will be representing the brand as one of our Heroines!

In the meantime, here’s a little sneak at some of the pieces by My Secret Agent Love Man. You’ll have to attend the Trunkshow to see the full range that will be stocking on ERIIN. We honestly cannot pick a favourite piece!

We also took the time to interview Kim Wong, the incredibly talented woman behind My Secret Agent Lover Man! Kim graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Jewellery Design in 2009. She was awarded the Jewellery Design Innovation Award for her year and went on to be a finalist in the 2009 Design Now! annual exhibition held by Object Gallery in Sydney.
She continued her work in contemporary jewellery and exhibited in various galleries across Australia, after which her interest in fashion led her into creating a fashion jewellery line. Thus My Secret Agent Lover Man was born in the Spring of 2010!

Five words I’d use to describe myself:
Stubborn, Passionate, Determined, Messy & Shy.

My Inspiration:
Inspiration for “The Grave Escape” Collection started when I came across Disney’s Skeleton Dance cartoon when rummaging through an old stack of laser discs back home! I later found some skull beads in a shop in Chinatown and started working on this collection.
A song to represent it would probably the Silly Symphony that accompanies the cartoon. It’s dark and scary but with a tinge of quirkiness and humor.

My style icons:
Catherine Baba and Anna Dello Russo for their outrageous style and love for jewellery, Chloe Sevigny for her quirkiness and more recently Kate Bosworth for making dressing up everyday look so effortless.

Who I’d like to represent the brand:
I sometimes see people on the street and I really love their outfit and effortless style, I think those are the people I would like to represent the brand.

My Passion:
I have always had an interest in making things by hand. My passion for art and design kept growing, and right after high school, I decided to enroll in design college. I studied Interior Design, received my diploma in Industrial Design and then enrolled in the Jewellery Design Course when I came to Australia to study.
Three years later, with no background in business or industry experience, I pretty much dived straight into building my own jewellery label from scratch. Some might say I was reckless or just plain naive, but I firmly believe that if you’re really passionate about your dream, you’ll go after it and make it work.
It has been really challenging but I’m enjoying every minute of it! Got to live like there’s no tomorrow! And of course, I have the most amazing and supportive parents, who have encouraged me to follow my dreams!

My take on collaborations and entrepreneurs:
I think collaborations are great, as you get to exchange ideas and learn from one another, there is only so much one person or a group can do. It gets you out of your comfort zone and injects a fresh energy into the work.

Future goals for My Secret Agent Lover Man:
In 5 years I would like to expand the label to include bags, belts, headwear etc. I’d like My Secret Agent Lover Man to be the go-to label for all your accessory needs!
